The Devil Wears Prada

I saw this movie in the theatre when it was originally released. I remember being pretty psyched to see it. I really enjoyed the book and thought that the cast would do it justice. I was pleasantly surprised by E.Blunt [a relative unknown] who plays the first assistant, Emily. There's a lot of Oscar talk for M.Streep, and deservedly because she's so good in this film. I thought it was really interesting that in an interview she said that she has very little interest or knowledge of fashion. Also, I had forgotten how awesome the montage is [was] where Miranda (Streep) throws her coat and purse on the desk with whatever the day's random thing she wants done immediately. The ending, I felt, was much more dramatic in the book, but that's my only gripe.

Finally, the thing I was struck by with the second viewing of the film was that it's totally "which came first, the chicken or the egg?" -- the whole premise is SO similar to the tv show, Ugly Betty that it's surprising that L.Weisberger didn't sue, or vice versa, I suppose, by the originators of the show, Betty, Le Fea. As far as plot structure along with keeping the idea fresh and exciting week-to-week, the tv show definitely has a "heel up" on the competition.

Transporter 2

Good action film with well-choreographed fights. Plus, love Statham - think he's pretty great.
Annoying villian who was supposed to be Italian, but seemed more Hispanic?
I liked the first one better, but this one wasn't as much a step down as some sequels.

My Super Ex-Girlfriend

Cute premise? Check. Likeable actors? Check. Awful movie. Check.
Plus, around the halfway point, we thought that it couldn't get worse; then in the last 15 minutes, it DID.

John Tucker Must Die

Another cheesy chick flick, but fun! B.Snow is very likable and the other characters while not overly developed, were like people you knew in high school. The only other random gripe was that I didn't find J.Metcalfe believable as a b-ball player - not sure why.

Bros Before Hos

SO many good quotes from "A Benihana Christmas" on The Office...photo credit -- NBC.com

One of my favorites as follows:
Michael Scott -- "Bros before hos. Why? Because your bros are always there for you. They got your back after your ho rips your heart out, for no good reason. And you were nothing but great to your ho, and you told her that she was the only ho for you. And that she was better than all the other ho’s in the world. And then suddenly, she’s not your ho no mo’."

Guy Flicks

The boy is shocked that I haven't seen some of what he calls quintessential films.

I am a movie junkie after all. The only genre I won't watch is horror, but the rest of it...bring it on! And I will make an exception from time to time, although mostly for vampire movies. Really love those...but I digress.

Anyway, here's a short list -- I'm sure I'll be adding to it.
Rocky movies - apparently the first one (classic) and the fourth (fights a Russian)
Rambo movies - duh
Bigger, Longer, & Uncut [South Park movie] - I wanted to see that one actually
Team America: World Police - Marionettes? Political statements? Hmm, not so sure.
Airplane - Meant to see this too
Caddyshack - I haven't even told him that I haven't seen this one.
Braveheart - I would like to see this one.

Any of you folks have suggestions too?

The O.C., Season 4

I'm totally dorking out over The O.C. this year - I'm loving the Ryan Atwood/Taylor Townsend hook-up. *sigh* So cheesy, so romantic.

Our Very Own

Indie movie about high school kids in a very small town. Liked it, but very character driven rather than plot driven. Casting was well-done and believable. :-)

The Holiday

Saw this Wednesday, December 13. Predictable, but heartwarming. Total chick flick. Not a huge fan of Jude Law, but he is very, very pretty in this movie.
